I am proud to have been part of the collective OTI–Creative team effort that led to the success of the Community Cohesion Initiative program in Afghanistan.
Do you have a favorite, unique or fascinating story about your work in development?
The Pakistan Earthquake humanitarian response operations 2005 – the people directly affected by the disaster demonstrated such resilience and will to rebuild that it profoundly affected my outlook on what people are capable of.
What is it that drew you to the company?
The Community in Transitions Division’s work in post-crisis transition.
Post-crisis community stabilization initiatives, including socio-economic reintegration of disenfranchised groups; community mobilization for transition to self-reliance; and private sector partnerships.
Most recently, I was the Chief of Party (Acting) for the USAID/OTI funded Community Cohesion Initiative (CCI) in Afghanistan. Since 2013, I also provided Subject Matter Expert training support to the US Marine Corps for future stability, humanitarian assistance disaster response operations.
I served two consecutive posts as Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Uganda (2007-2011) and Libya (2011-2012). During the 2011 Libya uprising, I planned and coordinated the IOM in-country crisis response operations to safely evacuate thousands of migrant workers stranded in the Libyan conflict zones by land, sea and air.
I am a former British Army Officer and saw operational service through two tours in Kosovo (1999-2000) as part of the NATO Peace Keeping Force (KFOR), where I monitored and enforced compliance with the Military Technical Agreement, which provided the framework for the Kosovo Liberation Army’s transition to a civil protection and emergency response force, known as the Kosovo Protection Corps.
