40+ years of promoting positive change

Creative has implemented hundreds of projects around the globe since it was founded in 1977. From education and elections to governance and economic growth, Creative’s efforts have made a difference. For example, since the year 2000, Creative has trained more than 389,000 teachers in 21 countries—providing them with new skills and techniques that ultimately benefit their students.

South Africa Program Evaluation Implementation of Anti-Apartheid Requirements (CAAA)

Date: June 1994 – December 1994

Partnering with Aurora Associates International, Inc., Creative evaluated USAID/South Africa's implementation of anti-apartheid requirements with respect to South Africa's first election with a fully franchised population. Creative’s Fourth Generation Evaluation involved representatives of all stakeholder groups in the evaluation. Issues that were evaluated: USAID/South Africa’s process of implementing relevant mandates of the requirements in its programs; the impact of eight years of program activity; and broader implications/lessons learned....

 

 

South Africa Tertiary Education Program Support (TEPS) Activity

Date: May 1991 – January 1997

Creative was awarded the South Africa Tertiary Education Support Activity, a USAID-funded project which designed, supported and monitored leadership training programs benefiting more than 3,000 South Africans. It addressed human healing through each of its components. It nourished dialogue among representatives of higher education who supported pilot projects by NGOs that would become the seeds for public campaigns to realize equity in government and lead to Nelson Mandela’s release....

 

 

South Africa Transformation and Conflict Resolution Program

Date: April 1997 – December 1998

Creative monitored and evaluated grantees of the Independent Mediation Service of South Africa, assisting them in developing successful transformation and conflict resolution programs, conducting assessments of the organizational capacity of recipient NGOs and tracking performance....

 

 

South Africa/Supporting Higher Education for Black South Africans through Tertiary Education Project Support (TEPS)

Date: May 1991 – May 1996

Creative managed the Tertiary Education Project Support unit that encouraged widespread consultation and collaboration in support of higher education for black South Africans and the NGO community that opposed apartheid. The unit stressed empowerment of black South African individuals and organizations. It designed and implemented a multi-year training plan consisting of several key components, and designed, supported, and monitored short-term training programs for approximately 3,230 South Africans....

 

 

Sri Lanka Capacity of Provincial Government Assessment 2005

Date: May 2005 – July 2005

As ARD's partner in the Analytical Services II IQC, Creative provided a mid-level program development specialist to participate in a four-person team that reviewed USAID/Sri Lanka’s current program pertaining to the capacity of the provincial government....

 

 

Sri Lanka/Accelerated Skills Acquisition Program (ASAP)

Economic Growth Date: November 2006 – March 2009

Creative implemented the Accelerated Skills Acquisition Program, a task order of USAID’s Assistance to Basic Education/Basic Education IQC, to build a favorable employment climate for over-age and out-of-school youth in conflict-affected regions. In partnership with the Christian Children’s Fund and the International Youth Foundation, Creative strengthened the capacity of training institutions to deliver quality job counseling, career guidance, placement assistance and school-to-work services to improve employment possibilities and demand-driven skills for 7,075 ASAP participants (ages 15-25). Course work focused on job search strategies and building employability through English language skills and computer literacy. The project team secured 30 private and public sector organizations as training partners, and 107 companies provided placement assistance through apprenticeships or employment to graduates....
