Senior Project Director, Education for Development
GETTING TO KNOW KATE
Kate joined Creative as Senior Project Director in the Education for Development Division in 2021. She brings almost 20 years of experience providing technical assistance and project management related to primary education, school health and nutrition, as well as adolescent HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health, disability and social inclusion, and school-based WASH programs.
Before joining Creative, Kate served as a Chief of Party on the Ghana Systems for Health Project with University Research Co. (URC) and as Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID Read Liberia Activity with RTI International. She spent 10 years at the American Institutes for Research, where she focused on the intersection of health and education policy and curriculum to ensure teacher retention and health-promoting schools. She served also as the Deputy Chief of Party and Tajikistan Country Director for the USAID Quality Reading Project in Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition to project management and technical assistance, Kate has completed research on health and education uptake in households managing the dual burden of disability and HIV. She authored the background paper for UNESCO’s 2015 Education for All Global Monitoring Report on orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV.
Kate has a master’s in International Development from American University and a certificate in International Population and Reproductive Health from the University of Michigan. She has extensive experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Liberia, Ghana and Zambia, as well as experience in Haiti and Central Asia.
