Creative Associates International has endorsed the Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation and the accompanying Code of Conduct for Observers.

In a letter to the Carter Center and the U.N. Electoral Assistance Division, Creative joined a group of 52 endorsing organizations at the Annual Implementation Conference at the U.N. headquarters in New York Oct. 21-22, marking the tenth anniversary of the Declaration of Principles’ announcement.

“Creative and its Electoral Education and Integrity Practice Area are proud to join [the endorsing organizations] in their effort to further standardize and professionalize international election observation efforts,” Creative President Leland Kruvant stated in his endorsement letter.

Coming to the table with other key players in the electoral security and integrity arena—such as the Carter Center and the European Union—is a great opportunity to share lessons learned and advance the field of electoral observation, says Tihana Bartulac Blanc, Senior Associate for Electoral Education and Integrity and Creative’s representative at the U.N. conference.

“The conference provided a critical opportunity for Creative to share views and exchange experiences on the achievements and challenges in electoral observation and discuss how we can implement it more effectively,” says Bartulac Blanc.

The signing is a landmark moment for Creative’s Electoral Education and Integrity Practice Area, which has supported credible, inclusive, participatory and peaceful elections from Afghanistan to Haiti to Zambia.

Creative’s tools and programs offer electoral threat assessment, conflict prevention planning, peaceful election advocacy campaigns and electoral audits and fraud forensics.
