San Francisco, EE.UUCreative Associates International is proud to launch a new project in partnership with Kai Ming Head Start to design and deliver a research-based, culturally responsive early childhood curriculum. This initiative builds on our nearly five decades of experience promoting inclusive and developmentally appropriate education— beginning with Creative’s pioneering work in creating the original Creative Curriculum for Head Start.

This new curriculum initiative with Kai Ming Head Start reflects our commitment to honoring the diverse cultural identities, languages, and lived experiences of young children and their families. Situated in a richly multicultural and multilingual community, Kai Ming’s classrooms are vibrant spaces where culture, language, and learning intersect. Our goal is to develop a locally grounded, community-informed curriculum that celebrates this diversity while ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices and federal requirements.

The curriculum will integrate essential frameworks—Head Start’s Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF), the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Estructura, anti-bias education, the Project Approach, dual language learner strategies, and character education—into a single, cohesive and joyful learning experience. With a strong focus on play-based, project-oriented learning, the curriculum will support the development of children’s critical thinking, empathy, and inquiry skills.

The intended outcome of this assignment is a localized curriculum that empowers teachers to reclaim the joy of teaching by offering a cohesive framework that supports creativity, inquiry, and responsiveness to children’s needs and interests. For families, the curriculum will offer accessible and culturally affirming ways to engage with their child’s education, strengthening the home-school connection and honoring traditions, languages, and values. For children, it will provide a nurturing foundation for lifelong learning—one that affirms who they are and encourages them to explore the world with curiosity and confidence.

A través de esta colaboración, Creative and Kai Ming Head Start aim to create a model for early learning that is rooted in community, guided by research, and driven by the voices of teachers and families.
