Through the U.S. Bureau des initiatives de transition de l’Agence pour le développement international, the Community Cohesion Initiative contributed to increased resilience in critical areas vital to Afghanistan’s overall stability and development.
The Community Cohesion Initiative implemented community-driven activities designed to help Afghans rebuild, strengthen and connect their communities to the wider social and political structures in the country. It strengthened community capacities to support a peaceful political transition, contributing to peaceful electoral processes and outcomes and countering violent threats to a peaceful transition.
The program helped to increase communities’ ability to withstand political and social upheaval, insurgent infiltration, and other shocks and pressures.
