40+ years of promoting positive change

Creative has implemented hundreds of projects around the globe since it was founded in 1977. From education and elections to governance and economic growth, Creative’s efforts have made a difference. For example, since the year 2000, Creative has trained more than 389,000 teachers in 21 countries—providing them with new skills and techniques that ultimately benefit their students.

Benin Assistance to Basic Education/Linkages to Education and Health (ABE-LINK) Project

Health Date: 2006 - 2007

This USAID/PEPFAR-funded project assisted the Ministry of Education to develop a health curriculum that encouraged positive behavior change to prevent HIV transmission and provide a pre-service teacher training guide on integrating girls’ education and HIV topics in all subject areas to 1,000 teachers. Along with school-based efforts, Creative assisted Benin’s Ministries of Education, Health and Family by coordinating AIDS responses across all divisions and training federal and district officials to mitigate the health, education and development impacts of HIV & AIDs using evidence-based policy formation. M&E tools were piloted in 15 school districts, student learning assessments were conducted in 175 schools nationwide, and the National Education Sector Policy on HIV & AIDS was finalized....

 

 

Benin/Assistance to the Benin Pedagogical System to Address HIV/AIDS in the Education Sector

Date: April 2006 – June 2007

In Benin, Creative assisted the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MEPS) to continue the great strides it has made toward primary education reform while integrating HIV/AIDS prevention into the education sector. The initiative was made possible by USAID, under a five-year Assistance to Basic Education/Linkages to Education and Health initiative (ABE-LINK). A new evaluation tool outlining educators' administrative and pedagogical responsibilities was also tested in 15 of Benin's 85 school districts, putting into practice the government's results-based management model. ...

 

 

Benin/Children`s Learning and Equity Foundations (CLEF I)

Date: December 1993 – March 1998

The purpose of the Children's Learning and Equity Foundations (CLEF I) project was to provide quick-response, short-term and recurrent technical assistance services in planning, implementation and monitoring of activities undertaken by Benin Ministry of Education. Creative provided technical assistance and services in curriculum development, student assessment, teacher training, textbook and materials development and production, information systems management, budgeting and finance, student access and equity, community involvement, and standards for school quality. ...

 

 

Benin/Children`s Learning and Equity Foundations (CLEF II)

Date: August 1995 – August 2000

Creative provided short-term technical assistance to the USAID-funded Children's Learning and Equity Foundations (CLEF II) project in Benin as a follow-on to the CLEF I project. New curricula for grades one and two--produced by Creative Associate's curriculum development team--was institutionalized in schools, and the new curricula for grades three and four was piloted as well. Creative conducted teacher training workshops using specialists to provide interactive teaching methods, multi-grade classroom teaching, and the design and use of classroom instruments for continuous assessments....

 

 

Benin/Equity and Quality in Primary Education (EQUIPE)

Health Date: February 2003 – February 2006

Creative worked with the government of Benin to ensure that more children, especially girls, received high-quality basic education on an equitable basis. Funded by USAID, this project aimed to improve educational equity and quality by transforming learning environments, and by increasing decentralization and community participation in Benin’s primary education system. In partnership with CARE and EMI Systems, Creative trained teachers and provided technical support for curriculum design and publication of textbooks. EQUIPE also supported Benin’s government in raising awareness of the issues, attitudes and behaviors that contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS....

 

 

BEPS-LOI

Date: September 2001 – February 2002

AIM/Creative provided a variety of management consulting services, including customization of a proprietary web application to serve as the LOI data-entry template system; development of a customized search and reporting system; and training of BEPS staff on the use of the template and database and its various features....
