Semere Solomon’s decision to pursue a career in global development and humanitarian assistance was less a straight line than a journey. As a young man, he took up arms to fight in Eritrea’s war of independence, later taking a major role in the Education Ministry in the new government. At odds with the new regime, he left his home country, studied his advanced degrees and pursued a career in global development. He has worked throughout Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. With 20 years of service at Creative Associates International, he is a respected voice in the social impact company and the development industry.
