U.S. Ambassador John L. Withers hosted a ceremony in March to present Vera Lesko with the honor of being selected the first “Woman of Courage” from Albania, and to recognize her for being a finalist for the Secretary of State’s 2009 International Women of Courage Award. Ms. Lesko is the Director of a U.S. Agency for International Development-supported shelter for victims of human trafficking in Vlora, Albania.
