Humanitarian and Development

Creative combines local expertise and networks with global best practices in education, governance, conflict resolution, and economic growth to implement programs and address humanitarian crises around the world.

When responding to humanitarian crises, Creative partners with government and other key stakeholders to provide essential services to vulnerable populations. We are experienced in providing training, planning, and provision of equipment to address disaster risk reduction, mitigation, and preparedness; health-related projects and activities; basic education support; and basic infrastructure.

Creative is a trusted partner in international development, with experience adapting our approaches in contexts ranging from stable to active conflict. We work with governments, civil society, youth, businesses, and other key stakeholders in a participatory approach to ensure results are sustainable, scalable, and transformative. We are experienced in a broad range of technical sectors and can quickly leverage a vast network of global experts.

Our in-country networks, relationships, and operational platforms allow us to immediately mobilize respond during times of crises. We bring specialized expertise in rapid procurement, education in conflict and crises situations, remote management, and basic infrastructure, including rubble removal, waste management, and building refurbishment. Our networks allow us to triangulate needs, priorities, and commitments among key actors, which enhances coordination and prevents duplication of efforts when there is no time to waste.

Creative has decades of experience implementing governance programs in fragile and conflict-affected environments, and in more stable development contexts. Creative uses locally led and people-centered strategies to support and engage communities, the private sector and the full spectrum of governance actors as they respond to local needs, improve trust and legitimacy, foster democratic norms and address governance drivers of instability.

Creative unlocks inclusive economic opportunities by strengthening market systems, fostering private sector competitiveness and investment, and building a market-ready, skilled workforce around the world. Our work involves close collaboration with the private sector, communities, educators and government partners to design and implement locally led approaches that emphasize sustainable economic growth. With extensive experience in non-permissive environments and fragile, conflict-affected regions, we employ a cross-sectoral strategy to build resilience, strengthen local capacity and ownership, and generate diverse economic opportunities.

Seeing youth as equal partners, Creative supports approaches that build on young people’s strengths and potential, fostering their engagement, developing their sense of agency and strengthening skills and relationships with others. Creative promotes cross-sectoral synergies and systems approaches with the goal of sustainable, equitable solutions to the challenges and aspirations identified by young people. These youth-focused and led approaches are holistic, transparent and informed by do-no-harm best practices.

Focusing on community hotspots facing the most violence, gang influence, or crime, Creative has helped citizens create community-level violence-prevention strategies, strengthen local governance to reduce crime and work with trusted local stakeholders to address the root causes of different forms of violence (e.g., domestic, homicide, street crime). Our public health, place-based approach to crime and violence prevention identifies individual, interpersonal, community, and structural factors that contribute to crime and violence. Creative’s approach enables the design of integrated, long-term approaches leveraging identified local assets to respond to root causes and drivers.
