After more than four years of conflict that resulted in one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, the Government of Yemen and Houthi rebel forces agreed to a U.N.-brokered ceasefire in late 2018 known as the Stockholm agreement, or Hodeidah ceasefire.

Directly supporting the U.N. Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General for Yemen (OSESGY), Creative is participating in a high-level ‘security think tank’ to shape the peace process emanating from this agreement.

Creative will provide technical advice to the OSESGY and the Redeployment Coordination Committee, which is charged with implementing the local security force aspects of the ceasefire agreement including police, coast guard and other local security forces.

Under the leadership of Senior Advisor for Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Dean Piedmont, Creative will develop options for the OSESGY Security Sector Reform team and both Houthi and Government of Yemen representatives based on an analysis of the security and military aspects of the peace process.

Aimed at building confidence measures where issues cannot be resolved between parties, Creative’s recommendation may be integrated into ongoing consultations with the parties led by OSESGY
