Creative Associates International has joined with the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan to investigate and address the challenges in the country’s labor market.
U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Stuart E. Jones, Minister of Labor and the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Nidal Katamine and Chamber Chairman Mohammed Bataineh were part of the 125 attendees of the inaugural event on March 3 in Amman.
Creative and the Chamber have conducted a preliminary survey among member businesses to understand their hiring, recruitment and retention needs.
Survey results indicate a high demand for communications, language and technical skills. It also found that vocational education and training programs, when taken together, outrank undergraduate university programs as sources of recruits and staff.
The survey also found that larger and smaller firms in Jordan are more likely than medium-sized firms to hire and retain young people and women.
