Larry Grayer, Creative Associates International Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, was named a finalist for this year’s Outstanding Chief Legal Officer award by the Association of Corporate Counsel, National Capital Region.

The association’s local chapter, with membership of more than 800 private-sector organizations, recognizes the area’s leading in-house practitioners and legal departments for their exceptional performance over the past year. The chapter has over 2,500 individual members and serves D.C., Virginia and suburban Maryland.

Grayer was one of five finalists in his category. A panel of nine judges, all leaders in the business and legal community, reviewed nominations submitted in response to an open call, examined the qualifications of the nominees, and selected the finalists. Finalists were recognized and a winner announced at an event on Oct. 25.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition for my work at Creative,” Grayer said. “Knowing that I am able to assist in advancing Creative’s goals, while reducing legal risk and promoting compliance, is immensely gratifying.”

Grayer joined Creative in 2017, bringing with him more than 20 years of legal experience advising senior executives on corporate governance and compliance, commercial and government contracts, labor and employment law and crisis management, among other areas.

Through his work at Creative, Grayer applies his legal experience – and passion for community service – to supporting vulnerable communities and people globally.

“Creative is a fantastic company with a rich history of improving education, economic development and security for millions of people around the world,” Grayer said. “It is extremely rewarding to support the efforts of such a dynamic and mission-driven company.”

Creative President and CEO Leland Kruvant said Grayer’s leadership, expertise and dedication have made a positive impact on the organization and its development work in more than 30 countries.

“This recognition is well-deserved. All of us at Creative have greatly benefited from Larry’s thoughtful legal advice and counsel across a wide range of issues,” Kruvant said. “His leadership of the Office of General Counsel has been pivotal in allowing us to better serve our clients and beneficiaries.”
