GETTING TO KNOW TIM

Tim Kernan is the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President and Chief Executive Officer of Creative Associates International. In this role, he supports the President & CEO and the company’s Executive Committee on a range of strategic and operational issues.  

Prior to joining Creative Associates, he served as Chief of Staff and Senior Director of Government Relations for DAI. From 2006 to 2009, Tim served as Managing Director of the U.S. Global Leadership Campaign, a unique coalition of more than 600 NGOs, faith-based organizations and businesses advocating in support of the U.S. international affairs budget. He was responsible for leading the coalition’s government relations strategies that led to the highest level of funding for the international affairs budget in the U.S. Congress, including increased funding for USAID and the U.S. State Department. 

As Chief of Staff of Fluor Corp., the world’s largest publicly traded international engineering and construction company, he was responsible for supporting the Chairman, President and CEO in the successful strategic restructuring of the company, relations with institutional investors, clients, U.S. and foreign government officials and corporate management. Fluor is listed on the S&P Fortune 500 list of companies with annual revenues of more than $20 billion.  

Prior to joining the private sector, Tim served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Representatives Bart Gordon (D-TN), Member of the Committee on Rules, and Clarence D. Long (D-MD), Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Agencies that funds U.S. foreign policy. In addition, he served as a member of the professional staff of the Committee on Rules in the U.S. House of Representatives.
