40+ years of promoting positive change

Creative has implemented hundreds of projects around the globe since it was founded in 1977. From education and elections to governance and economic growth, Creative’s efforts have made a difference. For example, since the year 2000, Creative has trained more than 389,000 teachers in 21 countries—providing them with new skills and techniques that ultimately benefit their students.

El Salvador Reintegration of Ex-combatants

Date: August 1992 – March 1993

Creative provided institutional support and management services to the Secretariat for Reintegration, the Armed Forces of El Salvador and Fundacion 16 de Enero in the design and implementation of programs for ex-combatants. Project staff provided technical support on a variety of issues, including emergency relief, integrated sustainable development projects, program linkage and administrative systems....

 

 

El Salvador Report Options for Reintegration Ex-combatants

Date: November 1990 – February 1991

Creative provided USAID with an assessment of the political, economic and social problems that might result from the reintegration of ex-combatants of the Salvadoran armed forces and irregular forces and made recommendations to help in their transition. Creative researched and analyzed alternatives and provided USAID with a report that included strategies for reintegrating the ex-combatants. ...

 

 

Greater Horn of Africa Initiative for Conflict Prevention

Date: August 1996 – April 1997

Creative prepared a practitioner's manual, Preventing and Mitigating Violent Conflicts: A Guide for Practitioners, to support the Greater Horn of Africa Initiative. The guide focused on: 1) a summary of literature and provision of a common language in conflict prevention and mitigation; 2) discussion of the most effective tools used in conflict prevention and mitigation efforts; and 3) discussion of the conflicts in the Greater Horn and an examination of their sources....

 

 

Honduras and Costa Rica Humanitarian Assistance Task Force for Nicaragua

Date: January 1989 – June 1990

Creative provided training to support the reintegration of Nicaraguan ex-combatants into civilian life. In the first phase, Creative developed training programs, course materials and recruited training instructors and in-country staff. The training programs addressed: warehousing, inventory control, office administrative skills, road maintenance, mall and large motor repair. Phase II expanded the project's scope to include training in agriculture and animal husbandry, primary school teacher training as well as other areas in vocational education....

 

 

Lester B. Pearson Peacekeeping Centre II

Date: March 1998 – July 1998

Creative provided technical services and disarmament, demobilization and reintegration expertise to the Lester B. Pearson Peacekeeping Centre in Canada, helping design and develop a training course for peacekeepers and organizations engaged in demobilization and reintegration activities....

 

 

Lester B. Pearson Peacekeeping Centre Training Project

Date: March 1997 – May 1997

The Lester Pearson Canadian International Peacekeeping Training Centre selected Creative to help develop two modules for their course on Demobilization and Reintegration, "The Hard Road Home" and to develop the Final Exercise, the capstone of the entire course. The course provided participants with a broad understanding of the issues, processes and experience in demobilization and reintegration programs, to improve the planning and implementation of future programs and related missions. ...
